Theta Mu Chi is a Christian, interdenominational, multicultural, non-secretive, social sorority, founded on April 18, 2014 in Fairborn, Ohio. The organization was Founded by Sisters Adrienne Davenport and  Kelli Ware (nee Davenport). At the time, Adrienne was a Bachelor degree seeking student at Wright State University. Kelli was an Associate Degree seeking student at Clark State Community College Greene Center. The organization was founded to fill the void in the community for a city-wide, Christ centered sorority, open to all female students enrolled in two year and four year colleges and universities. Our purpose is to offer Christian fellowship for college students, to serve our community through various philanthropic ventures, and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Many traditional Greek lettered organizations (GLO’s) are not Christ centered, nor do they encourage a Godly lifestyle. There were also many Christian sororities that were already in existence. However, the sister’s saw needs in their community that most other traditional GLO’s, and already established Christian GLO’s would not permit them to meet. Most other GLO’s will only grant membership if a student is enrolled in a traditional four year institution. Students at two year colleges are excluded from the opportunity to join. Theta Mu Chi will grant membership to female students enrolled in Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, and Graduate degree programs at both two year and four year colleges and universities.

Also, many other GLO’s will only grant membership to students if they can charter a chapter at their specific school, and students at other schools cannot join unless they charter a chapter at their own school as well. Theta Mu Chi does not make it mandatory to charter a chapter at the specific institution that a student is currently enrolled at in order to obtain membership. There will be a large city-wide chapter that permits female students and college graduates to join at a variety of different institutions, as long as the institution is located within the same city or nearby regions. Other GLO’s also do not permit people to join if they have already completed a Bachelor’s degree, unless they charter a separate graduate or alumni chapter. Theta Mu Chi permits college graduates to join without mandating them to charter a separate graduate or alumni chapter. Theta Mu Chi also grants membership to community members who are not college city but still seek spiritual support and fellowship.graduates,

Although Theta Mu Chi was founded on April 18, 2014, It was over two years later before the sisters were able to finalize the details of the organization, design of the Coat of Arms, and begin recruiting members. Theta Mu Chi was officially incorporated on September 13, 2016.
