Name: Theta Mu Chi
The name means “ Through Water to Christ.” The word “Through” starts with Theta in Greek, Mu means water in Greek, and “Christ” starts with Chi in Greek. In Christianity we have to go through water to maintain a healthy relationship with Christ. We do this literally through the act of baptism, as well as metaphorically when our sins are washed away through repentance and forgiveness. Jesus also referred to the Holy Spirit as Living Water in scripture. The Holy Spirit dwells in all believers and seals them for salvation.
Official Biblical Passage:
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. -Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT)

Colors: Emerald, Gold, and White.
Emerald - In the Bible, green represents plants and the Garden of Eden. Which represent life, growth, happiness, and a life without sin.
Gold - Gold is often associated with prosperity. We encourage our members to strive for prosperity, but to never desire prosperity more than they desire Christ. “Therefore I love Your commandments More than gold, yes, than fine gold!” -Psalms 119:127 (NKJV)
White - Represents redemption. “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18).
Mascot: Lioness
Lioness’ live in a large group called a pride. They are the caregivers and providers of their pride. They not only care for their cubs, but are the primary hunters. The male lion very rarely hunts. The entire pride’s survival is highly dependent upon the lioness’. The lioness’ spend the vast majority of of their time with other lioness’. They are very affectionate and always greet each other with rubbing and low purring, which is confirmation of a social tie. Lioness’ maintain their playful nature even as adults, male lions do not. Unlike with male lions, lioness’ do not have a hierarchy. They work together in equality. They even hunt together as a group to make the hunt successful. Lioness’ have characteristics that represent service, compassion, sisterhood, and loyalty. These are all characteristics Theta Mu Chi members strive to have, which is why the lioness is our mascot.
Lydia: The Lioness is named Lydia, after the successful business woman, and servant of God in the Bible (Acts 16).
Flower: Cattleya Orchid
-This flower comes in so many varieties of colors and species. This represents diversity, and Theta Mu Chi’s multicultural mission.
Gem: Alexandrite
- This gem is rare and changes color in the day and night. The color change ability represents the transformation that occurs when someone chooses to follow Christ or repent. The fact that it is rare represents the state that many Christian college students are in on college campuses. College is often times a secular environment, being a follower of Christ is often rare on a college campus, and in society in general.
